Maybe you've heard of Jay-Z and the Beastie Boys hailing their genius from Brooklyn - but let there be no doubt, Brooklyn is teeming with plenty of artists you might have not yet dug up. We've put together some of our picks of Brooklyn's newest rising stars for you to check out while you're Here.
Shadow Box - "Haunted By Colors"
Before Shadow Box, forerunner Bonnie Baxter had a rock band that toured all around Brooklyn and NYC. But she's stopped touring in the band to take some time off to explore more eclectic harmonies, folky guitars, and vocal manipulations. Shadow Box has released her EP "Haunted By Colors" this week - have a listen over The Fader.
Friends - "Manifest"
It's indie, old school, and 100% Brooklyn. The band, led by Sam Urbani, has been getting a lot of attention lately - just before they set off on their your tour for their new album Manifest. Check out Urbani strut the streets of Brooklyn in their exploding hit "I'm His Girl."
The Brooklyn based quintet is set to release their second album this August - on which many of the new beats were made with a Korg ElecTribe sequencer (super old school). First off the upcoming "Fragrant World" is "Longevity" - a streaming flow of synthetic beats and bass. Listen up to "Longevity"
